舒俱来俗称苏纪石，市场常见玉石，亦被誉为「千禧之石」，也是公历二月份的生辰幸运石。1973年，在南非发现了大规模的舒俱来。20世纪70年代成为商业品种。舒俱来的颜色呈特有的深蓝色、红紫色和蓝紫色，有时在色带和色斑上呈现几种不同色调。舒俱来也常呈黄褐色、浅粉红色和黑色，但是这些很少用于珠宝首饰。舒俱来一般呈半透明到不透明，宝石级舒俱来呈明亮的半透明，与优质玉髓相似，但是很难获得。舒俱来呈玻璃到树脂光泽（蜡状光泽），宝石中常点缀着黑色、褐色和蓝色线状的含锰包裹体。
